BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

The Granbury Housing Authority is presided over by a Board of Commissioners. The Board is the policy-making body of the Housing Authority, and selects and employs the Executive Director who acts as the chief administrative/operations office of the Housing Authority.

The presiding officer of a governmental body (typically the Mayor or the City Manager) appoints the members to the Board. On a City Public Housing Authority five-member board, at least one Commissioner must be a public housing resident. The Commissioners are not compensated and the Board is not a political entity. These five concerned citizens endeavor to provide quality housing and services to the citizens of Granbury.

The Board of Commissioners is ultimately responsible for the entire operations of the Housing Authority. They must rely on the Executive Director to operate it in accordance with federal, state, local laws and HUD requirements. Commissioners should not be involved in the day-to-day operations of the Housing Authority. Monitoring is conducted at the Board meetings.
